Sprinklers save the day, twice in one week!
Fitchburg -- The City of Fitchburg Fire Department responded to two calls within a one week period where residential fire sprinklers extinguished a fire in the kitchen of an apartment. Cooking and heating are among the leading causes of home fires in the United States, according to the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). More importantly, the life and property saving value was demonstrated not once, but twice in the same week. |
Town of Bristol crash injures four
TOWN OF BRISTOL -- A crash on a private road in the town of Bristol Saturday night injured four people, the Dane County Sheriff's Office reported. |
Car Fire Burns Siding on Two Homes
MADISON -- On Friday, September 19, 2008, an occupant of 2402 Coolidge was working on his car, when it burst into flames. He grabbed a kitchen fire extinguisher and tried to put the fire out, but the flames were too big for the small extinguisher. His wife looked out the window, saw flames and called 9-1-1 at 12:27 PM. Engine 3 crew arrived at 12:33 PM with Engine 10, Rescue 10, Ladder 1, Engine 8 and Ladder 8 arriving behind them. |

Annual Fire Truck Parade on State Street Sunday
MADISON -- The annual Dane County Fire Chiefs Association big Fire Truck Parade will be held Sunday in downtown Madison. Each year the parade marks the beginning of Fire Prevention Week in Dane County and nearly 40 fire trucks from departments throughout Dane County are expected to participate in this year's event. Training Dates set for
Dane County MABAS 115
MADISON
-- MABAS Division 115 (Dane County) has set up training dates through
September and October at area fire departments through out the county.
Training officers are encouraged to attend one of the dates and members of
departments are also welcome to come.
MABAS will be the official program in Dane County on how to call for mutual
aid or additional alarms, by January 2009. The system is set up to
accommodate departments with a more uniform way of receiving mutual aid.
DCFR will be posting more once all is set in stone, please feel free to email us if you have any question. We’ll try to answer it as best as we can or
forward your email to the experts.
