Sprinklers save the day, twice in one week!
Fitchburg -- The City of Fitchburg Fire Department responded to two calls within a one week period where residential fire sprinklers extinguished a fire in the kitchen of an apartment. Cooking and heating are among the leading causes of home fires in the United States, according to the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). More importantly, the life and property saving value was demonstrated not once, but twice in the same week.
Town of Bristol crash injures four
TOWN OF BRISTOL -- A crash on a private road in the town of Bristol Saturday night injured four people, the Dane County Sheriff's Office reported.
Car Fire Burns Siding on Two Homes
MADISON -- On Friday, September 19, 2008, an occupant of 2402 Coolidge was working on his car, when it burst into flames. He grabbed a kitchen fire extinguisher and tried to put the fire out, but the flames were too big for the small extinguisher. His wife looked out the window, saw flames and called 9-1-1 at 12:27 PM. Engine 3 crew arrived at 12:33 PM with Engine 10, Rescue 10, Ladder 1, Engine 8 and Ladder 8 arriving behind them.

Madison Fire Department to give out 200 carbon monoxide alarms
MADISON -- As a new Wisconsin law mandating carbon monoxide alarms in many new housing units goes into effect Wednesday, the Madison Fire Department is announcing the donation of 200 carbon monoxide (CO) alarms to be distributed to local families in need.

Annual Fire Truck Parade on State Street Sunday
MADISON -- The annual Dane County Fire Chiefs Association big Fire Truck Parade will be held Sunday in downtown Madison. Each year the parade marks the beginning of Fire Prevention Week in Dane County and nearly 40 fire trucks from departments throughout Dane County are expected to participate in this year's event. Baseball Theme Carries Fire Safety to Madison Schools
MADISON -- While much of Wisconsin zeros in on the Milwaukee Brewers entry into the playoffs, the City of Madison Fire Department is taking that theme to Madison’s elementary schools for Fire Prevention Month.

Training Dates set for Dane County MABAS 115
MABAS 115MADISON -- MABAS Division 115 (Dane County) has set up training dates through September and October at area fire departments through out the county. Training officers are encouraged to attend one of the dates and members of departments are also welcome to come.

MABAS will be the official program in Dane County on how to call for mutual aid or additional alarms, by January 2009. The system is set up to accommodate departments with a more uniform way of receiving mutual aid.

DCFR will be posting more once all is set in stone, please feel free to email us if you have any question. We’ll try to answer it as best as we can or forward your email to the experts.

Beldenville teen in critical condition following Thursday morning rollover accident

Suddenly, very serious accidents
HIGHWAY 45 CRASH --Two southern Wisconsin men were ejected from this truck when it left Highway 45 north of Elcho and rolled over in a ditch during the noon hour Sunday. Authorities said Michael A. Luciani of Oconomowoc was trying to pass several other southbound vehicles when a second southbound vehicle also tried to pass. Luciani tried to take an evasive action and lost control of the truck. Luciani and a passenger, Troy M. Unertl of Neosho, were both taken to St. Mary Hospital in Rhinelander. Unertl was airlifted to St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield where he remains listed in critical condition. ANTIGO -- Sheriff Bill Greening suggested today he was surprised and saddened by the rash of accidents in the central Wisconsin area that have resulted in the deaths of two Langlade County residents and a number of serious injuries — all within a matter of a few days.
